Collection: Fringe Tack Sets & Bags

About Fringe Tack Sets & Bags

This is the page where fringe runs both ways — across the horse and across your shoulder. Fringe tack sets on one side, fringe handbags and saddle bags on the other, gathered so you can put the two together instead of hunting for them separately.

What comes in a fringe tack set

A full set here is a headstall, a breast collar and reins, cut and finished to match, with the fringe hung from the breast collar and browband so it lifts at speed. Because the pieces are built together, the colour and the tooling actually line up — which is the part that is hard to get right when you buy a breast collar one week and a headstall the next.

You will find these in painted and tooled leather, metallic and iridescent finishes, buckstitch, beadwork and crystal, from quiet browns through to full colour. If you want the fringe without committing to a whole set, a wither strap is the smallest way in.

Matching the tack to the bag

Most people start from one piece and build out. If your set is tooled leather with suede fringe, a tooled bag with the same fringe weight will read as intentional rather than matched-by-accident. If the tack is bright — turquoise, sunflower, serape — it is usually better to let the bag stay neutral and carry the fringe alone.

Suede fringe or leather fringe

Suede fringe is softer, hangs closer together and moves in a heavier curtain. Cut leather fringe is stiffer, separates more as it swings, and holds its shape longer under sun and sweat. Neither wears better than the other — it is a question of how much movement you want.
